How Prohibition Changed America

  • Pacific Palisades Public Library Pacific Palisades Public Library (map)

Join us at the Pacific Palisades Public Library this Saturday for “How Prohibition Changed America” with Richard Foss!

Though nationwide Prohibition of alcohol ended eighty years ago in 1933, the cultural effects of that period are still with us. Some changes, such as the rise and glamorization of organized crime, are obvious, but there were more subtle changes that affected dining preferences, dating habits, and much more. Richard Foss will give an illustrated lecture on why Prohibition really happened, how America was different before it took hold, and how our culture was changed by a utopian experiment gone wrong.

Free and open to the public.
